From 21–23 April 2026, the Polfish team participated in the 32nd edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global in Barcelona – the largest and most prestigious event in the global fish and seafood industry. This year's edition turned out to be a record-breaker in terms of both the number of participants and exhibition area.
The event was attended by over 35,500 seafood industry professionals and 2,290 exhibitors from 85 countries. The trade fair took place at Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía and covered over 52,980 m² of exhibition space. For three days, Barcelona became the global meeting point for producers, distributors, importers, retail chains, and fish market experts.
Polfish's presence at the trade fair was an excellent opportunity to establish new business contacts, meet with trade partners, and observe the latest trends and innovations in the seafood sector. Among the attendees were representatives from the largest global retail and foodservice chains, such as Aldi, Carrefour, Lidl, Metro, Sysco, and HelloFresh.
This year's trade fair focused on key themes for the future of the industry, such as sustainable fishing, responsible aquaculture, supply chain transparency, and the development of innovative processing and packaging technologies. The new Aquaculture Innovation Zone, showcasing modern solutions for water quality monitoring, AI analytics, and sustainable production, attracted particular interest.
Seafood Expo Global is not just a business space, but also a place for knowledge exchange and inspiration. The conference programme included numerous expert debates, presentations of market trends, and analyses of global economic challenges affecting the seafood sector. One of the most important points of the programme was a presentation by economist and geopolitical strategist Dr Nomi Prins on the future of global fish and seafood trade.
The trade fair also featured networking events and culinary demonstrations. The „Connecting Women in Seafood” and „Aquaculture Meet-Up” sessions were of great interest, as was a culinary demonstration led by Michelin-starred chef Albert Raurich.
Polfish's participation in Seafood Expo Global 2026 confirms the company's commitment to developing international cooperation and actively tracking the development trends of the global seafood market. The trade fair provided a valuable source of inspiration and knowledge that will undoubtedly translate into further development of the company's offering and business relationships.
