The IntraFish Leadership Breakfast Barcelona 2026 is an intimate, high-level event for global seafood industry leaders, organised by IntraFish Media in parallel with the Seafood Expo Global. The 2026 edition took place on 21 April 2026 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Barcelona Fira and focused on the sector's resilience to market and geopolitical changes.
As the organisers of the POLFISH trade fair, we were honoured to take part in this prestigious industry event as a partner and sponsor.
The meeting brought together leaders from the global seafood sector, representatives of major companies, market experts, and policymakers responsible for the development of the fishing and aquaculture industries. The team from our project participated in the event as attendees of panel discussions, actively following the most important trends, challenges, and directions of development in the global fish and seafood market.
The leitmotif of IntraFish 2026 in Barcelona was „Building resilience through change” and it addressed the sector's resilience in the face of geopolitical shifts, ESG pressures, and supply chain disruptions. Panel discussions focused on: trade policy and customs barriers, leadership strategies in volatile times, maintaining demand amidst rising costs, key sustainability and ESG issues, investment trends in aquatech, and evolving consumer preferences.
In response to the dynamic changes occurring in the global seafood industry. Discussions focused on key issues currently affecting market operations:
Experts have highlighted that the modern seafood market is undergoing a period of intense transformation. Growing consumer expectations regarding the ethical origin of products, environmental concerns, and global economic tensions are forcing companies to be more flexible, innovative, and to engage in international cooperation.
The event was attended by over 140 industry representatives from around the world, representing over 80 companies and senior management. For the Polfish team, it was an excellent opportunity to gain up-to-date market knowledge, exchange experiences, and establish valuable business contacts.
The breakfast was attended by CEOs and board members of leading companies, including those from Bakkafrost, Royal Greenland, Salmon Evolution, and other major players in aquaculture and fish processing. The event was held „behind closed doors”, which facilitated a frank exchange of perspectives on pricing pressures, consumer communication, sustainable fishing and farming, and the future shape of the global seafood market. It is considered one of the key networking venues for decision-makers during Seafood Expo Global week.
As the Polfish team, we are committed to the development of the seafood industry, keeping abreast of global trends and actively participating in international initiatives that support the future of the fishing sector. We would like to thank the event organisers for the opportunity to take part in inspiring panels and discussions on the future of the global seafood market, and we invite IntraFish attendees to the Polfish trade fair in Gdańsk, which will take place on 9–11 September 2026 at the AMBEREXPO Exhibition Centre.
